“Roermond-Ecke-Tropical Gate” 3d prints, mirrors, projections
Just an interesting way of giving an physical object some meaning with the use of technology. I appreciate the illusion and the idea that something physical is the foundation of a virtual setting.
Reading List for this weekend:

The current rate at which we’ve become reliant on technology is both impressive and daunting. But how much of the digitizing of experiences is necessary? Just look at Monopoly, the classic game we all grew up remembering as the game that never ended, the game where everyone cheated…

Monopoly’s moved from paper banking to digital banking! RFID cards? a tower that tells you what you’ve drawn? What’s next? A Wireless tower that connects you to your online game? Or maybe a game with tokens programmed to move for according to your roll?
The progression of Monopoly the board game is an interesting way of looking at how firstly, the reference points in the game (banks and money) have become updated with the times (the luxury tax is now “interest on credit card debt”), and how secondly, technology changes the experience of game playing. A once mostly autonomous game has been transformed because of that, and while current technology is certainly not a bad thing, how should it be used to revive classic experiences and objects?
